Chuthik:
TRUE STORY(Nyima – A New Arrival from Tibet)`I entered the opportunity class(OC/A), which is at the entrance step of the junior section block. There are small kids of khampas, utsang and amdowas with few groups of about five to six children, who are seriously indulged in the conversation of their past life, home and schools in Tibet. One would really feel the virginity and the pure accents of a real Tibetan in that temple of education. While I was searching for a new arrival for the bitterness and truth story of his life in the chain bars of Himalayas, I could trace the feeling of homesickness from those young faces. I spot a red cheeked boy of about fifteen years old. I went near him and asked what his name is , but to my surprise he didn’t understand me and asked one of his friend in Chinese. I thought that it would be difficult for me to deal with him because he didn’t know even single Tibetan words and has arrived here two weeks ago. Luckily, one of the junior section prefect had extended the helping hand to me. Nyima is from the U-nan province of Tibet(Lit hang) and he had attended till class VIII in his village school. “I have never heard a single Tibetan word, when I was in Tibet and all the people in my town talk in Chinese” he remarked when I asked him whether his school teach Tibetan lesson. He came to Lhasa last year with his uncle and at there he decided to come to exile. He was not alone, his uncle is with him and they had a hard time journey. He said that he felt sad, unhappy and discourages to fulfill the urges of his heart and the expectation of his parent while crossing the icy cold mountain and facing the bitter moments. But now, these have been a source of inspiration, hope and encouragement for him to be more studious and fulfill the wishes and expectations of my neat one. He also said that the Chinese teachers in Tibet try to teach the lessons very quickly and they never concern whether the student has known the lessons or not. In here the teachers are very kind, sympathetic and gentle. They see whether the child had understood their lesson properly, if not, they patiently teach us again. With this, we came to the end and I asked him the last question about his future. He had yet decided what to do in future but he has a strong will and an iron zeal to learn the Tibetan lesson proficiently. With this I stood up and bit a warm good bye to all the class. But sadly i could still depict the feeling of homesickness in that small class. So, I am here to urge to all the senior students to do a small favor of an antidote for those young arrivals to relief the excruciating pain of their departure and make them happy in the home far away from home.
